A very Happy Christmas to everyone, and all good wishes for 2020. My Christmas card this year was designed by children from Gateway Academy and I am very grateful to them and the school for taking part in my annual competition.

We all need a bit of a break from politics so all I wanted to do before the holidays is thank everyone who re-elected me in last week’s General Election and promise to work even harder to represent all local residents in Parliament regardless of who they supported.  For those who don’t know the details of the result here in Westminster North, they were:

• Karen Buck, Labour, 23,240 (54.2%)
• Gabriela Fajardo Palacios, Christian Peoples Alliance, 115 (0.3%)
• George Lee, Liberal Democrat, 5,593 (13.0%)
• Jamie Macfarlane, Conservative, 12,481 (29.1%)
• Cyrus Parvin, Brexit Party, 418 (1.0%)
• Holly Robinson, Green, 1,064 (2.5%)

My office will be closed now for a few days but after New Year my staff, Labour councillor colleagues and I will be campaigning, assisting people with their problems and holding both the Government and Westminster Council to account over what may be another very challenging few years on every front from Brexit to the impact of the housing shortage, the unavoidable issue that is the climate crisis and continuing pressure on almost every public service. And I will of course be keeping the newsletter going with reports on what I am doing and items of local news.

Thank you again,

My very best wishes
